Fall 2026 eeCOURSE: Foundations in Teaching Environmental Education (September 21, 2026)

Welcome to EEAI's first eeCOURSE! In this six-week online course, you will learn the fundamentals of developing and executing effective environmental education programs for any audience. The course is presented in five modules:

What Are the Foundations of EE?
How Do I Create an Effective EE Learning Environment?
How Can I Include All Learners in EE?
How Do I Select, Adapt, or Develop Effective Educational Materials?
What Are Effective EE Strategies?

Each module includes relevant readings, journal entries, and written assignments, and the course culminates in a teaching episode in which each participant applies what they've learned by leading an in-person EE lesson with an audience of their choice. The course requires about 12 - 15 hours of work and will be moderated by an experienced EE professional who will provide scoring and constructive feedback on assignments throughout the term. While this is an asynchronous course, it is time-limited, so participants are required to finish within the stated timeframe to receive their completion certificate. Participants are encouraged, but not required, to participate in three synchronous virtual calls with their cohort to learn from each other, provide mutual support, and facilitate network building within the Indiana EE community.

Meet your Moderator

Jamin Bray is the Professional Development Coordinator for the Missouri Environmental Education Association (MEEA). Jamin has worked with MEEA since May 2022 and has also served as MEEA's co-director. She has moderated all of the eeCOURSES offered in Missouri, as well as courses offered in Nebraska and Arkansas. Jamin has also worked to co-create new eeCOURSES for NAAEE and the affiliate network. Before coming to MEEA, Jamin worked as an interpreter for Missouri State Parks and for the National Park Service. Jamin also has experience with formal education, having worked as a 5th - 8th grade science and English teacher. Jamin's passions are nature study, music and songwriting, her my family and their 156-acre farm in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks.

Join EEAI this fall at Ball State University for our 2026 Annual Conference. This year's theme is "From Schoolyard to Stewardship: Educational Pathways to Green Futures." Presenter sessions and field trips will focus on four tracks that will complement our conference setting on campus, and we're excited to welcome BSU's own Dr. Tom McConnell as our keynote speaker this year!
